About True Canine Probiotics

True Canine Probiotics is an independent science education publication. Our purpose is simple: to explain what probiotics are, how they work in dogs, and what the research actually shows — without hype, without fearmongering, and without a sales pitch attached.

Why We Exist

Probiotics have become one of the most talked-about topics in dog health, and the conversation is often distorted. Marketing materials overstate certainty, headlines oversimplify studies, and owners are left unsure what to believe. We started this site to be the place where the science is explained accurately, in language a non-scientist can follow, with the uncertainty honestly acknowledged.

What We Cover

Our educational content includes:

  • Foundations — what probiotics, prebiotics, and postbiotics are, and how the canine microbiome works
  • Strain science — which bacterial strains have been studied in dogs, and what those studies found
  • Research summaries — plain-language walkthroughs of published studies, including their methods and limitations
  • Concepts and terminology — CFUs, guaranteed analysis, shelf stability, and other terms explained clearly
  • Common questions — honest answers to the questions dog owners actually ask

What We Do Not Do

Understanding our boundaries is part of understanding the site:

  • We do not sell products
  • We do not publish “top 10” rankings or shopping lists
  • We do not provide veterinary advice or individual recommendations
  • We do not accept funding from supplement manufacturers

Our role is to educate. What you do with the knowledge — in consultation with your veterinarian — is up to you.

Editorial Independence

True Canine Probiotics is an independent publication. We are not owned by, affiliated with, or funded by any pet product company. Our content is produced under a documented editorial process described in our Editorial Policy, and any commercial relationships we do have (such as advertising or affiliate links that may appear on the site) are disclosed in our Disclosure and never influence what we teach.

Our Standard

Every claim we publish is traceable to a source. Where the research is strong, we say so. Where it is preliminary, mixed, or absent, we say that too — because accurately communicating uncertainty is as important as communicating findings. We would rather tell you “we don’t know yet” than invent a confident answer.
